The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has refuted claims that he is in talks with former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, over a possible political alliance ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.

In a statement released by the spokesperson for his campaign organisation, Basiru described the reports as false, unfounded, and misleading. The statement emphasized that there have been no discussions or reconciliation efforts between the APC National Secretary and Aregbesola.

It noted that such a move would be implausible, particularly because Aregbesola is no longer a member of the APC, making any suggestion of a political alliance illogical.

Basiru, a former Senate spokesperson, is among the key aspirants vying for the APC governorship ticket in Osun State, with the election set to take place in August 2026.
