NAKED MAN FOUND HANGING FROM TREE IN OGUN COMMUNITY, POLICE INVESTIGATE SUSPECTED SUICIDE

Tragedy struck the Ilishan-Remo community in Ogun State as residents discovered the body of an unidentified naked man hanging from a tree in an undeveloped area of the town.
It was gathered that the disturbing incident occurred on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in the New Market area of Ilishan-Remo. A source who spoke under condition of anonymity disclosed that the man’s lifeless body was found dangling from a rope tied to his neck and the tree in what is suspected to be a case of suicide.
A photo obtained shows the deceased, stark naked, suspended from the tree in a secluded part of the neighborhood. The unsettling discovery reportedly sent shockwaves through the community, prompting concerned residents to alert local authorities.
Police operatives, along with community leaders and health officials, were said to have arrived at the scene shortly after being notified and coordinated the evacuation of the body.
“On Saturday, June 7, 2025, residents of Ilishan discovered a body hanging on a tree in an undeveloped plot of land in the New Market area,” the source. “Upon arrival, law enforcement found the dead body of an unidentified, naked male adult. Community leaders and health officials were contacted for proper evacuation.”
A senior police officer, who requested anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak with the media, confirmed that the case had been reported to the Ogun State Police Command headquarters. “The details have been sent to the command,” the officer said, urging our correspondent to follow up with the command for official updates.
As of press time, the state police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
The case echoes a similar tragedy reported in April 2018, when another unidentified, half-naked man was found hanging from a tree near EFAB Estate in Lokogoma, Abuja.
Residents in Ilishan-Remo remain unsettled as investigations continue into the latest incident. Authorities have yet to determine the identity of the deceased or confirm the circumstances leading to his death.
