ABURE-LED LP GRANTS PETER OBI 48 HOURS TO EXIT THE PARTY
By Jen Npomamiukor
The faction of the Labour Party led by Julius Abure has issued Peter Obi a 48-hour deadline to exit the party following his affiliation with the coalition.
This was included in a declaration endorsed by the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, in Abuja, on Thursday.
Ifoh clarified that the Labour Party under Abure’s direction continues to staunchly resist joining the coalition, while categorizing coalition members as “power-hungry individuals whose sole concern was themselves and not the populace. ”
The political organization cautioned Nigerians that the frequently proclaimed ‘new Nigeria is attainable’ is a deception and cannot be realized with the gathering of outdated, reused, desperate, and disheartened politicians within the coalition.

Ifoh stated that the political party acknowledges that all individuals who have poorly administered Nigeria throughout the years are the ones who have united in the coalition, while emphasizing that desperate politicians cannot foster a new Nigeria.
He said, “We are aware of several nocturnal meetings between Peter Obi and some of our members, lobbying them to join him in his new party. We’re also aware that a number of them has refused to defect with him.
The Labour Party has steadfastly asserted that it is not a member of the coalition; consequently, any of our members who is affiliated with the coalition is required to formally relinquish their membership in the party within 48 hours.
“Labour Party is not available for people with dual agenda, people with deceptive persona. The party will not avail itself to individuals who have one leg in one Party and another leg elsewhere.
“People that in the morning, they will claim to be in the Labour Party and in the evening they are in coalition.
“These people are opportunistic politicians who are only interested in relaunching themselves into circle of power, people who are desperate to continue holding on to power.
“The new Nigeria of our dream can only be realized through Labour Party and the party is willing to lead Nigerians along that trajectory.
“I therefore urge all members of the party to remain loyal and keep the party structure intact ahead of future elections.”
Meanwhile, Obi has given his full support for the coalition of opposition parties aimed at ending President Bola Tinubu’s rule in 2027.
He articulated that it was a truth that no individual faction can alter Nigeria independently; thus, there is a necessity for individuals to unite in order to achieve the objective.
“Yesterday, the coalition members formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 Nigeria General Elections with Distinguished Senator David Mark serving as the National Chairman and H.E. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola serving as the National Secretary,” the former Anambra State Governor wrote on X.
“Our dedication is to collaborate and exert effort towards the 2027 General Elections, guaranteeing that Nigeria obtains a proficient, adept, and empathetic leadership that will prioritize the nation’s future by placing the well-being of Nigerians foremost. “
“This decision was not made lightly. It comes from deep reflection on where we are as a country and what must be done to move forward.
“No one group can change Nigeria alone. To dismantle the structures that keep our people in poverty and insecurity, we must build bridges, not walls even when those bridges are uneasy…”
