The Kano State Police Command has arrested 11 students of Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi, in connection with the tragic killing of two fellow students.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrests in a statement to *PUNCH Online* on Thursday, stating that the students are currently undergoing interrogation to determine their level of involvement in the incident.
“Eleven students were arrested over the incident, and the investigation is ongoing to find out the level of their individual involvement,” Haruna said.
He assured that the police are committed to unravelling the circumstances surrounding the deaths and will ensure that those found culpable are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
In response to the tragedy, the Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, has ordered a full-scale investigation. The directive was issued through the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Bashir Bappa Mohammad, during an official visit to the school on Wednesday.
The development has sparked concern over student safety in boarding institutions, prompting calls for improved security and oversight within schools across the state.
