TROOPS FOIL TERRORIST PLOT IN TARABA, ARREST TWO SUSPECTED BANDITS, ISWAP OPERATIVE

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have thwarted planned terrorist attacks and arrested two suspected terrorists during separate operations in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to a statement by the Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Captain Olubodunde Oni, the operations were based on credible intelligence that led to the arrest of 45-year-old Felix Myina, a native of Ukum LGA in Benue State. Myina is believed to be a high-ranking member of a notorious bandit and kidnapping network operating under a wanted kingpin known as Mcianan, alias “Yellow.” The syndicate has been terrorising motorists and residents along the Jootar–Wukari axis. A Tecno mobile phone was recovered from the suspect during his arrest.
In a separate incident, troops also apprehended 26-year-old Abubakar Yusuf, a suspected member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), in Wukari town. Yusuf, originally from Borno State but residing in Gassol LGA of Taraba, was caught performing bizarre rituals at the Aku-Uka Palace Junction—an area identified as a potential ISWAP target. Items recovered from him included a dead chicken, nine rotten eggs, an animal horn, and a bottle containing powdered substances and fresh meat. The suspect was allegedly attempting to spiritually “tie” the town to ease terrorist infiltration.
Both suspects are currently in military custody and are said to be providing valuable intelligence to aid ongoing operations.
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade/OPWS Sector 3, commended the alertness of troops and the vital support from local residents in detecting and reporting suspicious activities. He urged continued vigilance and cooperation from the public, assuring that the military remains committed to eliminating all threats and restoring lasting peace to the region.
