KIDNAPPED EDO SEMINARIANS BEG FOR FREEDOM IN VIDEO HOLDING HUMAN SKULLS

Two teenage seminarians abducted from the Catholic Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary School, Ivianokpodi, Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, have pleaded with their parents and the public to help secure their release in a disturbing video released by their captors.
The seminarians, kidnapped on July 10 alongside another colleague, were taken after gunmen attacked the school, killing a civil defence corps officer. One of the abductees was later freed, while the remaining two have been held in captivity for over a month.

In the video, the visibly distressed boys, surrounded by masked armed men and holding dried human skulls, pleaded: “They kill people here. Our abductors have threatened to kill us. Please, send money to them to spare our lives.”
The spokesperson for the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, Rev. Fr. Peter Egielewa, confirmed the video’s authenticity, stating that negotiations were ongoing. “They are asking for money which we do not have, and I think it’s out of frustration they did that video,” he said.
Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, had earlier deployed tactical teams to track down the abductors and rescue the victims. Efforts to get police comments on the latest development were unsuccessful as of press time.
