The Lagos State Government has launched a fresh registration exercise for poor and vulnerable households to capture those missed in the previous round, in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s economic development and social welfare agenda.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget under the supervision of Honourable Commissioner Mr. Ope George, the exercise commenced at Ajibola CDA, Ikosi Isheri LCDA, and Kosofe Local Government.

Speaking at the launch, the Director of the Social Protection Coordinating Department, Mrs. Oluwakemi Garbadeen-Adedeji, who represented the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, reiterated the government’s resolve to prioritise the welfare of its most vulnerable citizens.

She encouraged eligible households to participate, noting that “The government is committed to assisting those who need it most, and this registration exercise is a key step in achieving that goal.”

Chairman of Ajibola CDA, Alhaja Arikawe Adewale, conveyed the community’s gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu, saying, “On behalf of the Ajibola CDA community, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Lagos State Government for this initiative.

“We are grateful for the efforts of the government in ensuring that our community benefits from various social protection programmes.

“Please convey our message to His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, that we are enjoying the dividends of democracy under his leadership and we are grateful for his administration’s commitment to our welfare, as you can see from the large turnout of members of the community for this exercise.”

The new registration follows the April 9, 2025, integration of the Lagos State Single Social Register (LASSR) with the National Identification Number (NIN) across all 57 LGAs and LCDAs.

LASSR, a subset of the National Social Register, serves as a database for poor and vulnerable households, enabling the government to deliver targeted social protection programmes to those most in need.
