The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, identified as Isiaka Hassan, for allegedly killing a five-year-old boy, Abba Bashiru, in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Monday.

According to Nguroje, the incident was first reported by the victim’s mother, Hadiza Bashiru, who raised the alarm when her son went missing.

“Investigations revealed that the boy was last seen with one Isiaka Hassan. Operatives led by the DPO, Tingno Division, arrested the suspect, who confessed to conspiring with another yet-to-be-identified accomplice to kill the child and bury him in a shallow grave,” Nguroje said.

The police exhumed the body, which has been taken to the hospital for autopsy. Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case and intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.

In a separate operation, police operatives in Yola arrested one Musa Suleh of Hong LGA at Jambutu Motor Park for being in possession of stolen vehicles.

Suleh reportedly confessed to stealing a Toyota Starlet (registration number YLA-420) belonging to Babawo Abubakar of Ngurore, while another green Toyota Starlet (registration number JAL-861 CL) was recovered from him without proof of ownership.

The CP ordered further investigation to trace the source of the stolen vehicles, urging residents to support security efforts with credible information. He assured that the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
