A fire incident has ravaged the radio studio at Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State, resulting in the destruction of equipment and assets valued at millions of naira.
The occurrence took place on Monday within the university grounds.
As per reports, the blaze was instigated by an electrical surge emanating from the studio’s air-conditioning unit.
The fire rapidly propagated throughout the facility before firefighters arrived to manage the situation. Confirming the event, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, stated on Tuesday that firefighters led by PFS 11 Makinde promptly responded to the emergency.
“When they arrived, the studio was consumed by flames and smoke. They successfully prevented the fire from advancing to other sections.
“No injuries were reported, and we were able to safeguard assets valued at millions of naira,” Akinwande commented.
He urged the community to consistently maintain fire extinguishers and utilize them effectively to mitigate small fires before they escalate.
It is noteworthy that on August 16, a statement issued by the Group Head of Corporate Affairs for Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, Samson Akindele, confirmed a fire outbreak that devastated its headquarters at Challenge, Ibadan.
