The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old man, Kingsley Eze, in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area, for alleged involvement in armed robbery.

The command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Sunday, noting that Eze had long been on the police wanted list.

According to Ikenga, operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended the suspect on Saturday.

“During the arrest, one Magnum pump-action gun, along with 12 live cartridges, was recovered from him,” the statement read.

Ikenga said the suspect is currently in custody, undergoing interrogation, and will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.

This development follows the August arrest of a deserter soldier and four others linked to armed robbery and kidnapping in the state. The gang was reportedly involved in the abduction of a farmer in Isiagu, Awka, who was later released after a ransom was paid.

The police reiterated their commitment to ridding Anambra of criminal gangs and assured residents of intensified operations against robbery and kidnapping networks.
