EMIRATES BANS USE OF POWER BANKS ON ALL FLIGHTS OVER SAFETY CONCERNS

Emirates Airlines has announced a ban on the use of power banks aboard all its flights, effective Wednesday, October 1, 2025, citing aviation safety concerns.
In a statement on Tuesday, the UAE flag carrier said the decision followed a safety review that highlighted the risks associated with lithium battery incidents in aviation.
“Using any kind of power bank is prohibited onboard Emirates’ flights, effective from tomorrow, October 1, 2025,” the airline declared.
While Emirates noted that all its aircraft are equipped with in-seat charging facilities, it strongly advised passengers to ensure their devices are fully charged before boarding, especially for long-haul journeys.
The airline further explained that the surge in portable charger usage globally has coincided with a rise in safety incidents linked to lithium batteries, making stricter regulations necessary to protect passengers and crew.
With this move, Emirates joins other international carriers that have tightened restrictions on personal electronic devices and portable charging accessories amid growing safety concerns in the aviation sector.
