Social media influencer Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, has been appointed as a brand ambassador for the Lagos State Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse (LASKADA).

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, during an official unveiling event.

Ogunlende described drug abuse as a “pandemic” ravaging communities in Lagos and stressed the importance of partnering with influencers who command large followership.

“Drugs are a pandemic hitting our streets, our society, and our communities. The government cannot fight it alone. We must work with people who can reach as many audiences as possible, and Mandy Kiss has over 400,000 followers. With the powers conferred on me, I make her one of our brand ambassadors. So, say no to drugs,” the Commissioner said.

The appointment comes weeks after Mandy Kiss sparked controversy over a viral post in which she claimed she planned to set a record for marathon sex with 100 men in a day an event she later dismissed as a joke. The Guinness World Records later issued a statement clarifying it does not recognize sexual activity as a category.

Defending her appointment, Ogunlende said the influencer’s influence and wide reach would help deliver the anti-drug message across Lagos communities.

“Everybody has a past, nobody is perfect. But as a brand ambassador for LASKADA, we hope Mandy Kiss will use her platform to help us in fighting this pandemic,” he said.
