INDEPENDENCE: NDUME DISTRIBUTES MATERNAL HEALTH KITS, DRUGS TO 5,000 WOMEN IN BORNO

As Nigeria commemorates its 65th Independence Day, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (Borno South) has reiterated his dedication to grassroots health advancement by providing complimentary maternal healthcare and medications to over 5,000 expectant mothers across the nine local government areas within his constituency.
This medical initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Gombe Teaching Hospital, aims to assist mothers during the vital phases of pregnancy and mitigate the threats of maternal and infant mortality.
At the launch held at the Biu local government headquarters on Wednesday, Senator Ndume, represented by Alhaji Adamu Yamta, stated that the initiative embodies his intention to augment governmental efforts in the healthcare sector.
He elaborated that the recipients will receive free antenatal services, medical consultations, and pregnancy-related medications for a duration of six months.
Each mother was provided with a comprehensive maternity package containing essentials such as wrappers, diapers, sanitary pads, antiseptics, nutritional supplements, and baby hygiene products.
During the occasion, Hon. Usman Shehu Babandi, Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Ndume, reaffirmed the Senator’s commitment to health development, noting that 550 pregnant women in Biu alone would benefit from the ongoing initiative.
“Senator Ndume remains resolute in his quest to close the medical gaps affecting his constituents.
One of his top priorities is the actualization of the proposed Federal Medical Centre in Kwaya Kusar, which will serve as a major healthcare hub for southern Borno.” Hon. Babandi stated,” Hon. Babandi expressed.
The Chief Medical Director of Gombe Teaching Hospital, represented by Dr. Aminu Umar, commended Senator Ndume for his vision, characterizing the endeavor as “a paradigm of legislative compassion. ”
Several beneficiaries who spoke with our correspondent expressed their gratitude for the initiative and prayed for the Senator’s long life and good health.
Other esteemed guests in attendance included Hon. Babangida Garba, Hon. Musa Maulut, and Hon. Iliya Shaffa, among various other dignitaries.
