MARTINELLI, SAKA FIRE ARSENAL TO 2-0 WIN OVER OLYMPIAKOS IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka were on target as Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory over Olympiakos at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, extending their perfect start to the Champions League campaign.
Martinelli opened the scoring in the 12th minute, pouncing on a rebound after Viktor Gyokeres’ strike hit the post, while substitute Saka sealed the win in stoppage time with a shot that slipped through goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.
The win followed Arsenal’s 2-0 triumph over Athletic Bilbao in their opening group match, maintaining Mikel Arteta’s side’s 100 percent record in the league phase and their strong defensive record, with 10 clean sheets in their last 13 home games in the competition.
Arteta, who faced Olympiakos coach and former mentor Jose Luis Mendilibar, rotated his squad by resting England trio Saka, Declan Rice, and Eberechi Eze, while captain Martin Odegaard returned from injury to pull the strings in midfield with a series of sublime passes.
Despite missed chances from Leandro Trossard and Gyokeres, and a disallowed Olympiakos goal, Arsenal held firm before Saka’s late strike put the result beyond doubt.
The Gunners, who have now won seven of their nine matches in all competitions this season, return to Premier League action on Saturday against West Ham as they look to close the two-point gap on leaders Liverpool.
