The Global President of the Great Ife Alumni Association, Barr. Leye Bunmi Falode, has assured applicants to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) that there is no cause for alarm over an interim injunction recently filed against the institution’s 2025/2026 admissions.
Falode, in a statement issued on Wednesday by the association’s Global Publicity Secretary, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, urged all stakeholders to remain calm while the matter is being addressed.
He explained that he has been in contact with the Vice Chancellor of OAU, who confirmed that the university is on top of the situation and taking necessary steps to resolve the legal issues.
The clarification follows widespread concerns from parents and applicants across the country after five candidates Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbemi, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak—dragged OAU, the University of Lagos (UNILAG), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to the Federal High Court, Enugu Division.
The plaintiffs, in suit No. FHC/EN/CN/274/2025, sought an order restraining the respondents from approving, uploading, or finalising any admission list for the 2025/2026 academic session pending the hearing of their substantive motion.
Falode reassured applicants that the development would not derail the admission process, stressing that stakeholders should remain patient and trust the institution’s handling of the matter.
