The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers after foiling an abduction attempt in Alkaleri Local Government Area.

Police spokesman Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Wednesday, said the operation followed a distress call on September 28 from Maso Kano village in Jada Pali district, where armed men wielding AK-47 rifles attacked and abducted two brothers, Hambali Alh. Sa’adu (50) and Jari Alh. Sa’adu (35).

A combined team of police operatives and special hunters swiftly responded, engaging the suspects in a gun battle that forced them to abandon the victims, who were later rescued unharmed.

Wakil disclosed that between September 29 and 30, three suspects linked to the attack were arrested. They were identified as Adamu Ahmadu (28), Bello Alhaji Musa (18), and Adamu Alhaji Musa (29), all from Shalhori village near Kirfi. The suspects confessed to the crime, admitting they conspired with three accomplices still at large to carry out the abduction for ransom.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their bravery and directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Anambra State Police Command on Tuesday rescued a kidnapped victim at the Oba/Ojoto axis in Idemili South LGA, just seven hours after gunmen abducted him from Umuru Village, Nnobi. The assailants had earlier demanded a N10 million ransom before security operatives launched a swift operation that forced them to release the victim unharmed.
