BREAKING: BAYELSA GOVERNOR DOUYE DIRI RESIGNS FROM PDP ALONGSIDE SPEAKER, STATE LAWMAKERS
By Aishat Momoh. O.

Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, has officially resigned from Peoples Democratic Party, ending months of speculation over his political future.
The development was confirmed in a Facebook post by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, who disclosed that the governor resigned along with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere, and all PDP members in the state legislature.
Although there has been widespread speculation about a possible defection to All Progressives Congress, Alabrah did not disclose which political party the governor would be joining.
Sources revealed that Governor Diri made the announcement during the weekly State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday inside the Government House, Yenagoa. It was also gathered that he has formally submitted his resignation letter to the party.
Reports indicate that members of the State Executive Council have also resigned in solidarity with the governor.
When contacted, Alabrah declined to comment further, saying, “I cannot talk now.” Repeated calls to the state PDP chairman, Solomon Agwanana, were not answered as of press time.
