BREAKING: TINUBU HOLDS CRUCIAL MEETING WITH NEW SERVICE CHIEFS AT ASO ROCK
President Bola Tinubu convened with the recently appointed military leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.
The new commanders arrived at the villa’s forecourt in a black Mercedes van escorted by a green Toyota Land Cruiser at approximately 4 PM.
Present at the gathering were the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt-Gen Olufemi Oluyede; Maj-Gen W. Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral I. Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke, Chief of Air Staff; and Maj-Gen E. A. P. Undiendeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The media reported that Tinubu instituted significant changes within the military hierarchy on Friday, October 24, 2025.
This initiative is “in furtherance of the endeavors of the Federal Government of Nigeria to fortify the national security framework,” as conveyed in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare.
According to Dare, the President has appointed General Olufemi Oluyede to succeed General Christopher Musa as the new Chief of Defence Staff.
“The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu. Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke serves as Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas has been designated as the new Chief of Naval Staff. Chief of Defence Intelligence Major-General E. A. P Undiendeye continues in his role.
“The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, extends his deepest gratitude to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the other service chiefs for their patriotic commitment and dedicated leadership,” the statement further noted.
Tinubu tasked the newly appointed military leaders to validate the trust placed in them by further elevating the professionalism, alertness, and camaraderie that characterize Nigeria’s Armed Forces.
