Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain star, Achraf Hakimi has been named the 2025 Confederation of African Football Men’s Player of the Year, beating fellow finalists Mohamed Salah of Egypt/Liverpool and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray.
The announcement was made on Wednesday at the dazzling CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat, Morocco, where Hakimi—PSG’s dynamic right-back—was the only finalist present, further heightening the excitement in the hall.
The triumph marks a significant milestone for Hakimi, who had finished as runner-up in 2023 and 2024 (behind Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, respectively).
Now 27, he has finally secured Africa’s highest individual football honour.
It also represents Morocco’s first win since Mustapha Hadji claimed the prize in 1998 and only the fourth time a defender has won the award in its modern era.
