FASHION DESIGNER VEEKEE JAMES EXPECTING FIRST CHILD WITH HUSBAND, FEMI ATERE

Renowned Nigerian fashion designer Ruth Erikan James, popularly known as Veekee James, has announced that she and her husband, Femi Atere, are expecting their first child together.
The designer shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting a short video of herself and her husband at a brown-pastel themed venue, dressed in matching tan outfits. The video prominently featured Veekee’s growing baby bump as well as ultrasound images.
“And two shall become 3,” she captioned the post. “Indeed, this is what only GOD can do.”
Veekee James is one of Nigeria’s most celebrated fashion designers, widely known for her luxury bridal and couture designs. She launched her fashion brand in 2019 and quickly rose to prominence for her sculptural, form-fitting wedding gowns and red-carpet dresses worn by high-profile clients across Africa.
Her designs have become staples at weddings and major award ceremonies, earning her several industry accolades. In 2021, she was named AMVCA Best Designer of the Year.
Born on June 9, 1994, in Akwa Ibom State and raised in Lagos, Veekee’s fashion journey began early, inspired by her mother’s tailoring work. Over the years, she has expanded her brand to include menswear and ready-to-wear collections and has emerged as a respected voice in Nigeria’s fashion industry. She is also involved in entrepreneurial and faith-based creative initiatives.
Veekee James and Femi Atere got married in a widely celebrated ceremony in February 2024, following their engagement in December 2023. Since then, the couple has shared glimpses of their life together on social media.
Speculation about a possible pregnancy emerged in late 2025 after fans noticed changes in the designer’s appearance, though the couple remained silent at the time.
The announcement has since attracted an outpouring of congratulatory messages from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers, alongside prayers for a safe pregnancy and delivery.
