Armed bandits have launched coordinated attacks in Maradun and Zurmi local government areas of Zamfara State, resulting in one death, four injuries, and multiple abductions.

According to sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the first attack occurred on February 10 around 6:00 p.m. when gunmen stormed Kaya Faru village in Maradun LGA. During the raid, Bello Yari and three other residents were shot and injured before the assailants fled to their hideouts.

Security operatives promptly responded to the distress call and visited the scene. The injured victims were taken to the General Hospital in Talata Mafara, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

Earlier the same day, at about 1:00 a.m., suspected bandits attacked the Sanyawa area of Moriki District in Zurmi LGA. During the assault, one resident, Lawali Musa, was killed, and an unspecified number of people were abducted and taken to an unknown location.

Security forces were quickly deployed to the area to repel the attackers and restore order. The body of the deceased was transported to the General Hospital in Moriki for post-mortem examination.

Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while security agencies continue efforts to rescue the abducted victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Despite ongoing military and security operations targeting criminal hideouts, Zamfara continues to be one of the North-West states most affected by banditry.
