Troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have eliminated several terrorists and recovered weapons as well as logistics supplies during ongoing offensive missions carried out across the theatre under Operation DESERT SANITY V.
The development was contained in a press release signed by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.
According to the statement, “Troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have continued to sustain offensive operations across the theatre under Operation DESERT SANITY V, recording significant operational successes.”
It explained that in Sector 2, troops working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force “successfully neutralised scores of the terrorists during a night operation around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages in Yobe state.”
During the raid, “Two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles and mobile phones were recovered.”
The statement further revealed that “further exploitation along the terrorists’ withdrawal route revealed drag marks and a shallow grave, indicating additional enemy casualties.”
In a related operation, troops under Sector 1 engaged fleeing terrorists along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis as they attempted to cross the Main Supply Route.
“The criminals fled in disarray, abandoning two sacks containing assorted logistics items suspected to be meant for terrorist elements,” the statement added.
While noting that “the general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable,” military authorities stated that “troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain high as they continue to dominate their areas of responsibility and frustrate terrorist activities.”
The Headquarters OPHK reassured residents of sustained military pressure against insurgent groups in the region.
“The Headquarters OPHK reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to sustaining pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists until lasting peace and economic stability are fully restored in the North East region,” the statement said.
