NAPPS SUSPENDS DELTA EXECUTIVE CITING MISCONDUCT AND CONSTITUTIONAL VIOLATIONS

The South-South zonal leadership of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has placed the Delta State Executive of the association on indefinite suspension.
The announcement was made on Monday in Asaba during a press conference by the Zonal President, Ochuko Akpeme, who accused the State Executive, led by Chairman Mrs. Precious Young, of gross misconduct and violations of the NAPPS Constitution.
The suspended officials face allegations including insubordination, spreading misleading information to members, making unauthorized decisions, and failing to remit dues to zonal and national offices.
A formal suspension letter, signed by Dr. Akpeme and other zonal leaders, stated that the Zonal Executive Council (ZEC) acted under its constitutional authority to remove the state officers due to multiple infractions of the NAPPS Constitution (2023, as amended). Copies of the letter were sent to the NAPPS National President, the police, the Commissioners for Primary and Secondary Education, and other key stakeholders in Delta State’s education sector.
Akpeme warned: “We may hand them over to the EFCC if necessary. They have repeatedly failed to remit funds from local chapters to the zones and national headquarters. By now, were it not for our fairness, we would have reported them to the office of the AIG. Claiming neutrality while withholding funds and collecting money in the association’s name is unacceptable. We have evidence against them.
“We hereby suspend Delta State Executive members indefinitely. All NAPPS documents and property in your possession must be handed over to the Zonal President, South-South, within three days of receiving this letter.”
The Zonal leadership also accused the Delta State Executive Committee of acting as a “neutral body” contrary to the association’s constitution and of publishing materials under the NAPPS name without approval from the National Executive Council (NEC).
Akpeme further warned that any actions taken by the suspended executives would be deemed “null and void” and treated as criminal.
The suspension has sent shockwaves through Delta’s private education sector, with stakeholders awaiting guidance on interim leadership arrangements. The decision is expected to bring significant restructuring within the Delta chapter as NAPPS works to restore order and confidence among its members.
The suspended State Chairman, Mrs. Precious Young, has not yet responded officially to the allegations.
