Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, has condemned alleged plans by terrorists to attack communities in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, including Ira, Inaja and Aho.
According to a statement, the alleged threats—reportedly contained in a letter dropped at the Ira market—have heightened fear among residents, raising concerns about possible violence and growing insecurity in their daily lives.
Adams called on the Federal Government, the Kwara State Government and relevant security agencies to take immediate and proactive steps to forestall the attacks.
He urged authorities to strengthen security measures, improve intelligence gathering and sharing, and deploy sufficient resources to protect lives and property.
Adams also revealed that recent intelligence points to coordinated plans by terrorist groups to unleash violence, instil fear and destabilise parts of the South-West, describing the development as a serious threat to public safety and community wellbeing.
He further appealed to residents to remain alert, report suspicious movements and work closely with security agencies to safeguard their communities.
Emphasising the need for collective action, Adams said the safety of Yorubaland and Yoruba-speaking communities in Kwara and Kogi states must be prioritised, stressing that unity and vigilance are essential to defeating terrorism and ensuring justice for victims.
