ELECTORAL ACT: APC EXPLAINS THEIR COMPOSED STANCE AMID OPPOSITION’S CRITICISM”

Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that the party is remaining composed out of respect for the authority of the National Assembly.
He explained that unlike the opposition, the APC is not raising an outcry over the recent amendments to the Electoral Act, emphasizing that the law reflects the collective efforts of Nigerian lawmakers.
In an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Morka noted that the Electoral Act was enacted by the National Assembly under its constitutional mandate, adding that the APC has no intention of intimidating anyone.
“The APC is not the National Assembly. The party itself is also subject to the Act’s mandatory e-registration requirements, so it’s unclear why the opposition believes we hold any advantage or are manipulating the process in our favor.

“The National Assembly represents a collective of elected officials from across all political parties. While the APC holds a majority, this does not mean that the actions of the National Assembly should automatically be attributed to our party.
“Such an assumption would be both unfair and illogical. I cannot speak for Kenneth Okonkwo’s comments, but the Electoral Act has been duly enacted and signed by the President of the Federal Republic, and it is now the law,” he said.
