All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, Ardo Zubariu and Chinsom Nwakanma, stated that the Igbos in the nation’s capital played an overwhelming role in securing the ruling party’s victory in the February 21 Federal Capital Territory Council elections.

The APC chieftains issued a joint statement on Saturday.

They emphasized that winning all five area council chairmanship elections would have been impossible without the substantial support of the Igbo community in Abuja.

They commended the leadership of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, for rallying residents to support the APC.

“We sincerely appreciate the South-East residents in the FCT for backing the Deputy Speaker and voting for APC candidates during the election. Their unity and active participation were crucial to the party’s success,” said Zubariu and Nwakanma, who also serve as leaders of the APC Integrity Group.

According to media reports, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared APC candidates winners of the chairmanship elections in AMAC, Bwari, Kuje, Kwali, and Abaji, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secured victory in Gwagwalada.
