Afrobeats sensation Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, demonstrated his devotion to his spiritual life with a recent visit to the holy city of Mecca to perform Umrah, the lesser pilgrimage, during the ongoing Ramadan.
A video that went viral on social media showed the singer being assisted by others as he attempted to touch the “Black Stone” in Mecca. In the same clip, he was seen admonishing a security official who had pushed back fans trying to take photos with him on the sacred grounds.
In another widely shared video, Asake was seen deeply engaged in prayer at a holy site, surrounded by fellow worshippers. He was reportedly granted the opportunity to pray at a “special spot linked to Prophet Mohammed” within the sacred precincts.
Additional clips captured the singer in traditional ihram attire at the airport, preparing for his pilgrimage, and arriving in Saudi Arabia with his team. He joined thousands of Muslim faithful who travel to Mecca annually to observe the sacred rites.
