A member of the House of Representatives under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Leke Abejide, has expressed renewed concerns over the party’s ongoing internal crisis following the formation of a coalition faction.

Speaking with the media, Abejide said the party had been stable until the coalition arrangement sparked divisions, leading to the creation of parallel structures.

“Our party was very quiet before the coalition came into play. Since then, we’ve been facing problems. We now have two ADCs: the coalition ADC and the original ADC. Both groups are currently in court, and we don’t know how it will be resolved,” he said.

Abejide emphasized his long-standing loyalty, noting that he is the only elected lawmaker on the ADC platform who has never defected.

“I am the only elected member of the ADC. Many others you see in the party today only recently decamped from other platforms, whether in the House or the Senate. They were not elected under ADC,” he stated.

He added that most recent entrants joined just weeks ago. “Some people joined in the last week or two. I, however, have always been elected on this party. I’ve never run for election on any other platform, nor have I ever decamped. I remain in ADC,” Abejide said.

The lawmaker dismissed claims of his expulsion, affirming that the party’s recognized leadership remains intact.

“No one expelled me. Our national chairman and all party executives are still in place,” he said.

Abejide also clarified that former Senate President David Mark is not a member of the ADC.
