KOGI GOVT MOURNS VICTIMS OF FATAL OKUNCHI ROAD ACCIDENT

The Kogi State Government has extended its condolences and support to families affected by a tragic road accident in Okunchi, Adavi Local Government Area.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, involved a tanker and a BUA Cement truck, triggering a massive fire that destroyed several vehicles, a residential building, and a mosque.

The accident claimed lives and left many others injured, plunging the community into mourning.

On Sunday, the State Project Coordinator of the Kogi AGILE Project, Ahmed Oricha, led a government delegation to the scene and to the hospital where victims are receiving treatment, conveying Governor Ahmed Ododo’s message of sympathy and solidarity.

The delegation also engaged with community leaders and residents, who commended the government’s prompt response and ongoing road construction efforts, which they said helped prevent further damage.

Oricha reassured the community of the government’s commitment to enhancing road infrastructure and safety measures, particularly for heavy-duty vehicles.

He also praised medical personnel for their efforts in attending to the injured and urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads.

Residents of Okunchi expressed appreciation for the government’s swift intervention and support during the difficult period.
