US STRIKE ON ALLEGED DRUG BOAT IN CARIBBEAN KILLS FOUR
Agency Report

The United States Southern Command (Southcom) on Wednesday confirmed a strike on a suspected drug-trafficking vessel in the Caribbean Sea, killing four people on board.
In a statement shared on X, Southcom said the vessel was operating along known narcotics smuggling routes and was actively engaged in trafficking activities at the time of the strike.
The latest operation is part of an ongoing campaign by the United States military targeting suspected smuggling boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, which began in early September. The strike has brought the reported death toll from such operations to at least 163.
The administration of Donald Trump has maintained that the country is effectively at war with what it describes as “narco-terrorists” operating across Latin America.
However, the operations have drawn criticism from experts and human rights groups, who argue that there is limited publicly available evidence linking some of the targeted vessels to drug trafficking. They have also raised concerns that the strikes could amount to extrajudicial killings.
