Italy’s Jannik Sinner extended his outstanding form by defeating Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 to claim the 2026 Miami Open title, capping a remarkable run on the ATP Tour.

With this win, Sinner has now captured both Indian Wells and Miami in the same season — completing the prestigious “Sunshine Double.” The triumph cements his status among the sport’s elite and keeps him in close pursuit of world number one Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner delivered a composed performance in the final, dominating on serve and winning 92 percent of his first-serve points. Despite rain delays, he remained focused, firing 10 aces and maintaining control throughout the match.

The victory marks a historic streak for Sinner, who has now won three consecutive Masters 1000 titles, joining legends such as Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in achieving the feat. He also became the first player since Roger Federer in 2017 to win both Indian Wells and Miami in the same year, doing so without dropping a set.

Reflecting on his achievement, Sinner credited his preparation and teamwork, describing the moment as both special and rewarding after rigorous training.

“It has been an incredible swing for me, and I’m extremely happy with the work we did to reach this position,” Sinner said.

“We had some strong practice sessions before Indian Wells, and seeing this kind of result makes me happy, as does the level we are trying to reach and the player we are aiming to become.”

While still behind Alcaraz in the ATP rankings, Sinner’s latest triumph narrows the gap and sets the stage for an intense battle at the top as the tour moves into the clay season.
