Speaking to the media on Monday, Tuchel explained that it “made no sense” to keep Saka and Rice with the squad.

“The players wanted to play, but it would have been too risky for both them and the team,” Tuchel said.

“They were clearly experiencing discomfort, and there was a danger of aggravating their injuries.”
