Bandits have killed three people and set multiple homes and grain silos on fire in Dangoro village, located in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The State Police Command spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, saying the attack took place on March 28, 2026, around 10:30 p.m.

Abubakar explained that a group of armed bandits, carrying AK-47 rifles, entered Dangoro village via Nahuche District, firing indiscriminately and setting houses and silos ablaze.

“Following the report, a joint team of police officers and local vigilantes quickly mobilized to the scene, engaging the attackers in a gunfight.

The security team successfully repelled the assailants, who fled into the bush, possibly wounded.

Tragically, three people lost their lives in the attack, including a member of the Community Protection Guard,” the spokesperson said.

“Additionally, five people sustained gunshot wounds, while four others suffered various burn injuries.

“The bandits also set ablaze several houses, silos containing food grains, and livestock, including goats,” Abubakar said.

He added that all the injured have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau, where they are receiving treatment and showing positive responses.

Abubakar noted that the police command has intensified efforts to track and apprehend the attackers.

He further said that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Muhammad, reassured residents of the command’s steadfast commitment to protecting lives and property, urging them to remain calm, vigilant, and continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible information.”
