POLICE ARREST 23-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT OVER GRUESOME KILLING OF SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN IBADAN

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly murdering a six-year-old girl in Ibadan.
The Command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
According to the police, the suspect, identified as Sodiq Akorede, allegedly killed the victim, Mutiyatu Sunday, and severed her head, which was later recovered from him.
The spokesman added that the suspect is currently receiving medical treatment after sustaining injuries from an attempted mob attack by angry residents.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect has confessed to the crime during interrogation. He is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) upon recovery for further investigation and prosecution.
