Air conditioning systems broke down at the venue of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) convention in Abuja, leaving delegates struggling with heat and discomfort.
The convention is taking place at the Rainbow Event Centre in the Federal Capital Territory.
On Monday, the ADC said it was denied access to both Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium for the event.
The opposition party later announced the Rainbow Event Centre as the new venue for the convention.
Following the announcement, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, alleged that the management of the facility was being pressured to cancel the party’s booking.

Speaking at the venue on Tuesday, former Kogi senator Dino Melaye insisted that the convention would go ahead despite the challenges.
“We are using this place by force,” Melaye said.
“After paying for the venue and signing contractual agreements, they still refused to allow us use it. We don’t even know where to switch on the central air conditioners.
“But we are making efforts to get the ACs working. Even if it ends up being held in a motor park, the convention will still take place today. They don’t want it to hold, but by God’s grace, the convention will hold.”
Melaye also said that fans were being brought into the venue to help ease the heat.
