ATROCITIES IN POLICE HOLDING FACILITIES MUST STOP – FORCE PRO WARNS
By Adeniyi Onaara
Any police officer who demands money from a complainant before reporting and forwarding a matter to a police station for inquiry is being unprofessional, dishonorable, and breaking the law.
Several allegations have been made that some staff members at the counter (charge room) have demanded detergent, dettol, and other products from family members of suspects who are being held before allowing them access or supplying them with food. This is ludicrous, and it is denounced as a whole.
To combat this and put an end to such ungodly acts, we are collaborating with command CPs and PPROs. Nigerians are thus asked to report any such incidents to their command CPs and PPROs and to file a complaint against them using the channels we have provided.
Without holding back, it must be said strongly that this act is against our SOP, unethical, and unprofessional. Thanks.
