CRIME: DOUBLE MURDER SUSPECT WANTED IN OGUN, JAILED FOR DRUG DEALING IN LAGOS
Bamgbose Osho, who was sought after for an alleged kidnapping and ritual murder in Ogun State, was given a three-year prison sentence for drug peddling in Lagos by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
On May 11, Justice Ayokunle Faji found Osho guilty of illegally trading in Cannabis sativa, also known as marijuana.
This came after his arraignment by the National Narcotic Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on two counts of illegally possessing 3.3 kilograms of the psychoactive narcotic and illegally selling 1 kilogram of it.
Osho, also known as Lebo, was listed as a wanted person by the Ogun State Police Command in 2020, according to a police letter to the NDLEA obtained by The Nation.
He was accused of being the leader of a six-man gang that abducted and killed a housewife named Mrs. Memunatu Akinde and a commercial motorcyclist named Mr. Ibikunle Ajose on October 1, 2020, at Owoyele Abisoye, in the community of Doleyin, Ado-Odo Ota, Ogun State.
Additionally, Osho and his crew are accused of dissecting the victims’ bodies and selling the components to a herbalist for ceremonial use.
While his associates were detained, Osho escaped and eluded capture, leading the Command to declare him wanted.
On October 22, NDLEA operatives apprehended Osho at his home on No 4, Bandu Street, Ikoga, Badagry, with 4.3 kilograms of Marijuana.
The anti-narcotics agency arraigned him for drug dealing before Justice Faji.
The offences were said to contravene Sections 11(c) and 19 of the NDLEA Act of 2004.
But prosecution counsel Femi Adebayo opposed him and urged the court to apply the full weight of the law on the defendant.
According to Adebayo, the convict aggressively attacked NDLEA operatives with dangerous weapons, during his arrest.
The prosecutor also informed the court that the convict had been declared wanted for kidnapping and murder by the Ogun State Police Command.
Justice Faji sentenced Osho to three years imprisonment.
