NIGERIA HAS INDIVIDUAL STARS, NOT A TEAM – SUPER EAGLES GREAT, CHRISTIAN CHUKWU
Ex-Super Eagles captain and legend, Christian Chukwu, has stated that the Nigeria’s national football team, Super Eagles, have individual stars rather and not a team, following the nations opening match draw with Equatorial Guinea at the ongoing 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
He stated this speaking as a guest with Raymond Akpahruere on radio sports programme, Eagle 7.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea opening the scoring in the 37th minute through Iban Salvador’s effort, before Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen heads home an equalising goal before the break.
Chukwu, who said he was highly disappointed with the Super Eagles on Sunday, believes the remaining group games will be tougher for the team.
He said from what he saw, Nigeria “has individual stars and not a team.”
He added that we can only hope that the team improve in th coming games and produce the victory that Nigerians want.
Despite many chances, Nigeria failed to get the winning goal. Although Osimhen scored his first AFCON goal on his first appearance, he, in the 75th minute, missed a big chance.
Nigeria will be hoping to be more clinical on front of goal when they play Ivory Coast in the next game, and Guinea Bissau later in the tournament.
