The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has charged religious leaders and indeed all residents of the State to continue to commit Nigeria and Lagos State to prayers so that more growth and development can be achieved.

Sanwo-Olu gave the charge earlier today during a Combined Special Prayer for Nigeria and Mr. President in commemoration of the Easter and Ramadan Celebration which was organised by the State government.

The Governor stated that it was a divine coincidence for both Lent and Ramadan to take place at the same time, he noted that it presents an ample opportunity for Nigerians to intensify prayers for the peace and progress of the country while also soliciting prayers for Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

While appreciating the prayers and support received so far from Religious leaders in the State, the Governor requested that special prayers be offered on behalf of the President for long life, strength and wisdom to direct the affairs of the country and to enable him to deliver on his Renewed Hope Agenda for prosperity, infrastructural development and security.

The Governor hinted that as the President celebrates his 72nd birthday, it was only necessary to commit him and the administration to the hands of God, adding that since the President had asked for a low-key celebration, both religious and political leaders needed to partner with the administration to succeed as he has set up several machineries of revamping the economy and restoring the nation to her lost glory.

Earlier in his short exhortation, the Guest lecturer, Prof Sa’ed Ahmad admonished Nigerians not to relent in contributing their quota to the development of the Nigerian State.

Prof. Ahmad opined that Nigeria is rich and blessed in human capital, hence the success recorded everywhere in the world. He, therefore, charged Nigerians to maximise this capacity and be good ambassadors of the country.

Highlights of the event include special prayers offered for Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria in general by religious leaders both from the Christian and Muslim communities.

Present at the occasion were the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, Past Deputy Governors, members of the State Executive Council, Lagos State Federal legislators, Body of Permanent Secretaries, Religious Leaders amongst other top government functionaries.
