MAN UTD 0-1 ARSENAL : TROSSARD’S GOAL HELPS GUNNERS GO TOP WITH ONE GAME PLAYED MORE THAN CITY
By Ajape Sefiu A.
Arsenal defeated Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford, sending the Premier League title contest to the final day.
Prior to Manchester City’s Tuesday night trip to Tottenham, Mikel Arteta’s team needed all three points to take back the top spot in the Premier League standings.
And halfway through the first half, Leandro Trossard scored the game’s winning goal with a close-range tap-in after Casemiro had played Kai Havertz offside during the build-up.
It is Arsenal’s first league win at Old Trafford in front of fans in 18 years.
The result means Arsenal sit one point clear of Man City, although Pep Guardiola’s side have their game in hand against Tottenham in midweek.
Realistically, Arsenal must defeat Everton on the last day and hope Man City slip up against Spurs or West Ham.
Meanwhile, a draw for Man City in either of their final two matches could see the title go down to goal difference – which Arsenal lead by three.
