KWARA VARSITY SANCTIONS STUDENT FOR MAKING INAPPROPRIATE SKITS
By Sumayyah Olapade
The management of Kwara State University, Malete, announced it has disabled the portal of a male student who was allegedly involved in a skit where he was observed making inappropriate contact with females.
Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the acting director of university relations, said on Wednesday that disabling portal is a first-line punitive measure pending the outcome of an investigation by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
She added that the skits do not reflect the values of the institution or the ethical orientation of the majority of KWASU students.
“KWASU is an institution that prides itself on producing the total graduate, both in character and in learning, and has zero tolerance for any form of indiscipline.”
According to Aliyu, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, issued the order to disable the affected student’s portal as a first-line punitive step while the Student Disciplinary Committee’s inquiry was ongoing.
“We wish to reiterate that KWASU holds in high esteem the values of decency that all religions promote and will not condone any act that can jeopardise this value,” she said.
