ABDUCTED ANAMBRA COMMISSIONER, WIFE REGAIN FREEDOM
THE Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba and his wife who were kidnapped on Friday along the Edo – Kogi road on their way to Abuja, have regained their freedom.
Aghamba’s aide, ABK Offiah, who was traveling with them was, however, shot dead by the gunmen.
They were to attend the wedding ceremony of Adaora, the daughter of the state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
The state government confirmed the release of the couple on Sunday.
Press secretary to Governor Soludo, Christian Aburime, the press secretary said that Aghamba and his wife were released on Saturday night.
According to him, no ransom was paid for their release, that the release was achieved through divine intervention.
“The commissioner and his wife have been released by the special grace of God. We were able to secure his release and no ransom was paid”, Aburime was quoted as saying.
