RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT REFUTES CLAIMS OF NNPCL SHUTDOWN
The Rivers State Government has officially denied reports circulating on social media that Governor Siminalayi Fubara ordered the shutdown of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and all oil companies in the state.
In a statement released by Warisenibo Joe Johnson, the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Communications, the government condemned the claims as “spurious” and fabricated.
Johnson stated that the reports originated from an unverified source and are a product of misinformation.
“The Governor is committed to the rule of law and does not resort to unconventional means to address governance issues,” Johnson emphasized. He urged the public to disregard the false narrative, clarifying that at no point has Governor Fubara considered or issued any directive to disrupt the economy.
The government remains focused on promoting transparency and responsible governance in Rivers State.
