MURDER CASE: COURT ORDERS ACCELERATED TRIAL OF EBONYI LAWYER
Mr. Sunday Ununu, a troubled attorney from Ebonyi State who is accused of murder, has been denied bail by the Abakaliki High Court.
Rather, Justice Iheanacho Chima, the presiding judge, postponed the case to November 28, December 6, and December 13 for trial.
On August 21, 2024, Ununu is charged with the murder of Nnamdi Nwite-Ugo at Agbaja-Unuhu, Abakaliki Local Government Area.
In addition, the 45-year-old attorney is charged with illegally possessing a handgun. He refutes the accusations.
As directed by a court of Abakaliki Chief Magistrates, he is presently being detained in a penitentiary facility.

At the most recent postponed date, Mr. Jude UdokaChukwu, the state’s Acting Director of Public Prosecution, rejected the defense attorney’s bail request, which was made by Mr. Donatus Njoku. Bail should only be taken into consideration after a full trial has started, according to UdokaChukwu.
After that, Justice Chima postponed the trial to November 28, December 6, and December 13.
