The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a suspected drug dealer accused of operating within the Audu Bako Secretariat in Kano.

The suspect was apprehended during an ongoing enforcement exercise tagged “Operation Sharar Mafaka.”

According to a statement issued on Thursday in Kano by the agency’s spokesman, Sadiq Maigatari, the arrest followed credible intelligence that led operatives to identified drug spots within the secretariat premises.

Maigatari explained that the suspect attempted to escape upon noticing NDLEA officers by climbing to the second floor of a building and jumping from the back of the structure.

He added that officers successfully apprehended the suspect and recovered wraps of marijuana in his possession.

Preliminary findings indicated that the suspect had allegedly been involved in drug trafficking activities for over two years.

The statement also quoted NDLEA Commander, Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, who warned against using government facilities as shelters for criminal operations.

He stressed that “Operation Sharar Mafaka” is still ongoing as the agency intensifies efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks across Kano State and prosecute offenders.
