2025: GOV YUSUF URGES FG TO LOWER HAJJ FARE
Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, has urged the federal government to lower the 2025 Hajj price so that those who plan to perform the sacred act can do so.
The governor stated that the appeal was required because of the inhabitants’ economic difficulties.
His media assistant, Sanusi Bature, revealed this in a statement released in Kano on Tuesday.
During a State Pilgrims Welfare Board ceremony to reimburse funds sent by Saudi Arabian authorities after a power outage during the 2023 Hajj, Yusuf made the comments.
He pledged to submit a letter of gratitude to the Saudi Kingdom via its consulate in Kano and praised the Saudi Arabian government for the reimbursement gesture.
The governor also praised the State Pilgrims Welfare Board for organizing the 2024 Hajj successfully and praised the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for its openness and prompt reimbursement. He urged the board to maintain its success.
Yusuf, who recently traveled to Saudi Arabia to do the Lesser Hajj, said that plans for the 2025 Hajj had already begun, with work being done to determine what still needs to be improved.
Aminu Abdulsalam, the state’s deputy governor and head of the 2024 Kano State Hajj delegation, was also described in the announcement as thanking the governor for his steadfast support of the pilgrims’ board.
Furthermore, Laminu Danbaffa, the board’s director general, disclosed that pilgrims had received a N375 million reimbursement for the 2023 Hajj.
