FIVE INJURED IN LAGOS ROAD ACCIDENT
Five individuals sustained varying degrees of injury in an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge near the University of Lagos Waterfront, heading towards the Adeniji area.
The incident, which involved a commercial bus and a Toyota Highlander, took place earlier on Tuesday and briefly disrupted traffic flow.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) shared the update in a post on X on Tuesday.
LASTMA reported that its officers, along with good Samaritans, quickly helped the injured victims and made sure they received immediate medical care.
The post reads, “An accident occurred on the Third mainland bridge at Unilag Waterfront inward Adeniji, and it involved a commercial bus and a Toyota Highlander.
“There are 5 casualties (Injured persons) involved and have been swiftly rescued by LASTMA officials and other good Samaritans.”
It added that efforts are currently underway to recover the affected vehicles and restore normal traffic on the busy bridge.
“Recovery of the affected vehicles is also expected to be done now.” LASTMA added”
LASTMA, however, urged motorists to drive carefully, obey speed limits, and perform thorough vehicle checks before embarking on their journeys.
The agency emphasized that road safety measures are crucial to avoid preventable accidents.
Drivers were also encouraged to cooperate with traffic officials and prioritize safety to safeguard lives and property.
“Let’s always drive cautiously and maintain within the speed limit. Checking car conditions before home should also be a priority,” it added.
