MATERIALS TESTING REMAINS STATUTORY REQUIREMENT FOR DURABLE STRUCTURES – LSMTL

The General Manager of the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency (LSMTL), Engr. Olayinka Abdul has charged Lagos residents to conduct Materials Tests on all Infrastructural projects for quality assurance of such structures in averting building disasters.

 

Engr. Abdul, who made the call on Monday during an interactive session on a Traffic Radio programme, tagged: ‘Materials Testing Mata’ disclosed that the Agency is moving towards ISO certification at par with International best practices for safety and one which exudes professionalism of credible materials tests to structures across the Lagos Metropolis.

 

She said, “It is most profitable for Lagos residents as a statutory requirement for durable structures, even as it enhances veritable platforms in obtaining loans/grants following certified results from the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency. Once certificates of structurally habitable edifice are issued upon ISO certification of the Agency, it improves opportunities for the owners to penetrate the International Market since such results are found to be credible and professionally verified as financial incentives for loans”.

 

“Lagos State has an excellent, unique brand devoid of mediocrity, that is why LSMTL will align with the dream of ensuring optimal performance without stain. Thus, we fervently implore all residents never to pay money to anyone who will subvert the proper procedure of conducting a Materials Test. You must pay to no one, but follow the established order of running materials tests through the lsmtl.lg.gov.ng.portal”, she informed

 

While highlighting the revamped processes of the Agency at executing its mandate, the General Manager averred that discipline should play a prominent role in every action by its personnel, for Nigeria is the only country we have. Hence, all citizenry should be deliberate in conscientiously implementing assigned tasks for a progressive Nation.

 

She reiterated “ I do not have any other country I can boldly call my own. We must become patriotic and committed to building a Nigeria that is habitable and progressive. Hence, materials test will help ascertain such a beautiful future devoid of building collapse”.
