PUTIN AND TRUMP SET FOR PHONE CALL ON UKRAINE CEASEFIRE DISCUSSIONS
The Kremlin confirmed on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will speak by phone on Tuesday.
Trump had previously told reporters that “a lot of work” had been done between the two sides to address the Ukraine conflict, and he would be speaking with Putin to further the discussions.
“That is indeed the case. There is such a conversation being prepared for Tuesday,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, without providing details on the topics the two leaders would cover.
Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, traveled to Moscow last week to present the specifics of a joint US-Ukrainian ceasefire plan, which proposes a 30-day pause in hostilities.
Putin has expressed support for the idea of a ceasefire but raised concerns about how it would be implemented, which he intends to discuss further with Trump.
