The proclamation of a state of emergency in Rivers State has received overwhelming backing from the House of Representatives.
President Bola Tinubu had already written to the House of Representatives requesting their approval to declare a state of emergency in the South-South state.
In a plenary session Thursday, the House voted in favor of the declaration. There was a quorum of 240 parliamentarians present, according to Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbass.
More to come.
